CPO Network Integration & Open Roaming
Connect your charging network to PlugOne via global OCPI 2.2.1 open standards. Unlock thousands of active EV drivers, broadcast live charger availability, and automate inter-network transaction settlements with zero hardware modifications.
Understanding OCPI vs. OCPP
PlugOne strictly adheres to open global EV standards. It is critical to distinguish between inter-network roaming protocols and device management protocols:
Open Charge Point Interface
Used for interoperability and roaming between charging networks (CPO ↔ eMSP). Allows drivers on one network to discover, initiate sessions, and settle payments on chargers owned by another operator.
Open Charge Point Protocol
Used for direct communication between physical EV chargers and the central Charging Station Management System (CSMS). Handles hardware telemetry, diagnostics, and raw transaction meters.
Supported OCPI 2.2.1 Functional Modules
PlugOne implements all 6 core functional modules defined by the EVRoaming Foundation.
Locations & EVSEs
Broadcasts dynamic charging station coordinates, connector types (CCS2, Type 2), operational hours, and live availability tokens (Available, Charging, Blocked, Inoperative).
Tariffs & Pricing
Exchanges structured multi-dimensional tariffs including per-kWh energy rates, flat starting fees, idle parking penalty minutes, and peak/off-peak time-of-day multipliers.
Sessions Management
Tracks ongoing charging sessions in real-time, streaming cumulative energy delivered (kWh), instantaneous charging speed (kW), and live cost calculations.
Charge Detail Records
Delivers tamper-proof cryptographic transaction summaries upon session conclusion, automating inter-network financial settlement and GST invoicing.
Commands & Control
Enables eMSP drivers to initiate remote START_SESSION, STOP_SESSION, UNLOCK_CONNECTOR, and RESERVE_NOW commands directly from the mobile app.
Tokens & Auth
Validates digital wallet tokens and physical RFID cards across disparate operator networks with sub-second latency.
CPO Integration & Onboarding Workflow
A structured 4-step path from API sandbox verification to live commercial roaming.
Application & Scope Alignment
Submit your network details and API readiness via the onboarding portal. Our interoperability engineers review your station coverage and existing CSMS architecture.
Sandbox Credentials & Handshake
Receive dedicated OCPI 2.2.1 staging endpoints and authorization tokens. Complete mutual credentials registration and establish test location broadcast.
End-to-End Session Simulation
Execute simulated remote start/stop commands, live meter streaming, tariff calculations, and CDR generation in our automated sandbox environment.
Production Roaming Go-Live
Promote credentials to production. Your charging stations appear instantly across the PlugOne app, unlocking driver traffic and automated weekly payouts.
CPO Integration Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between OCPI and OCPP?
OCPI (Open Charge Point Interface - v2.2.1) is designed specifically for roaming and interoperability between different charging networks (CPO ↔ eMSP). OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol - v1.6J & 2.0.1) governs communication between individual physical hardware chargers and their central Charging Station Management System (CSMS). OCPI connects networks together; OCPP manages the hardware chargers.
Do I need to replace my existing chargers or switch CSMS software?
No! OCPI is completely software-driven. As long as your existing CSMS supports OCPI 2.2.1 (or can connect via our lightweight translation adapter), your physical chargers remain untouched and operational on your existing network.
How does payment settlement and CDR reconciliation work?
When a driver charges at your station using PlugOne, our platform validates the session. Upon completion, an automated Charge Detail Record (CDR) is generated. Payouts for energy consumed and operator fees are settled on a weekly automated bank transfer cycle with full GST invoices.
Can I set custom roaming tariffs for external drivers?
Yes. OCPI 2.2.1 allows CPOs to define dedicated roaming tariff profiles. You retain full control over your per-kWh tariffs, peak-hour pricing, and parking dwell fees.
